Colophon

A therapy room is a carefully held space. It is designed to support the work and to respect the needs of both client and therapist. We think the digital space around the practice should aim for similar integrity.

This page gathers a few notes on the principles and technologies behind this small corner of the internet.

ᵃ/ On privacy & analytics

Respecting privacy is a clinical imperative. On the website, this means making limited, deliberate technical choices: we collect only the information needed to notice whether the site is working and whether visitors can find essential information, without using analytics to identify individual visitors.

First-party, anonymized analytics. We use Matomo, an open-source analytics platform that we host ourselves. No data is shared with advertising or social-media companies. Analytics data is anonymized before storage and helps us understand broad usability, such as whether a page is broken or whether visitors can find the contact details.

No cookies, no trackers. We do not use tracking cookies, third-party advertising scripts, or embedded social-media trackers. The site does not build advertising profiles.

ᵇ/ The Generative Background

The moving background is an in-house, generative art piece, intended as atmosphere rather than an illustration of therapy. It gives the site a quiet sense of movement while remaining secondary to the text. The visual is not meant to explain therapy, but to carry some of the same qualities: movement, complexity, and the possibility of pattern becoming visible.

Performance and accessibility. The animation's physics calculations run in a separate thread (a Web Worker) to keep the main site responsive and fast. It also honors the prefers-reduced-motion accessibility setting, automatically reducing its movement for users who prefer a static experience.

ᶜ/ Open-source code

The code for the generative background is open source and available on GitHub under the MIT License. The repository is here.

ᵈ/ Sustainability
